Course structure and content
You will learn the basics of throwing, trimming, decorating techniques, and glazing. You will also be shown how to throw cups, bowls, jars, and candlesticks - tall, short, large, and small. Depending on your skill level, we will help you further develop your abilities.
Session 1: Demonstration of centering and throwing
Session 2: Demonstration of trimming
Sessions 3-5: practice and demonstration of various techniques
Session 6: Glazing
The teaching consists mainly of practical work under the guidance of the course leader. Everyone has their own potter's wheel throughout the course. We follow the current pandemic law regarding the number of people/m2 in our premises.
Sustainable materials
In the courses, we work with two different stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired pieces are very durable and that the glazes are more environmentally friendly. At Drejverkstaden, we are very concerned about the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy. We strive to mix glazes as much as possible with non-toxic and natural colorants, such as blue clay, terracotta, etc.
Where
In Drejverkstaden's beautiful course facilities at Holländargatan 33, Stockholm.
