Welcome to a week of intensive ceramics course at the Pottery Workshop with the fantastic teacher Lisa "Le ceramics" Ericson.

The course fee includes:

  • Course compendium
  • The pottery workshop's nice fabric bag or shopping bag
  • 3kg stoneware clay (then 100kr/kg) + slips/glazes/decorative materials + firing
  • Coffee/tea and snack supplies during the break
  • Opportunity to leave your clothes and shoes throughout the week

Prerequisites

The course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with previous experience. The teaching takes place in the form of individual guidance, and you have good opportunities to develop if you take multiple courses or sessions. A certificate of completion will be provided if desired.

Course structure and content

During the week, you will dive deep into throwing, trimming, and lots of different decoration techniques. Demonstrations of throwing high, low, large, and small, and everything you are interested in learning. We will also learn about wedging, recycling, and other aspects of the ceramic process. Depending on your skill level, we will help you further develop. One of teacher Lisa's strongest points is also decoration, and she will help you perhaps find and further develop your personal style and expression in ceramics during the week.

The teaching mainly consists of practical work under the guidance of the course leader. Everyone has their own potter's wheel throughout the course.

After the intensive week, the works must dry properly and then be fired for the first time before glazing. We will meet again after the summer on August 23 to glaze all the pieces. It will take another 2-3 weeks before the works are ready for pickup. We will email information when it is time to collect the artworks.

Sustainable materials

In the courses, we work with two different stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired product is very durable and that the glazes are less toxic. At the Pottery Workshop, we are very mindful of the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy.

Where

In the fine course facilities of the Pottery Workshop at Holländargatan 33, Stockholm.
