Welcome to a ceramics course at the pottery studio, where you will learn everything about throwing.
The course fee includes:
- Course compendium
- 3kg stoneware clay + slips/glazes/decorating materials + firing
- Coffee/tea and snack supplies during the break
- Own shelf throughout the course period
- Opportunity to leave your work clothes and shoes
Prerequisites
The course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with previous experience. The teaching takes place in the form of individual guidance, and you have good opportunities to develop if you take multiple courses or sessions. A certificate of completion will be provided if desired.
Course structure and content
You will learn the basics of throwing, trimming, decorating techniques, and glazing. Likewise, we will demonstrate how to throw cups, bowls, jars, and candlesticks - tall, short, large, and small. Depending on your skill level, we will help you further develop your abilities.
The teaching mainly consists of practical work under the guidance of the course leader. Everyone has their own potter's wheel throughout the course. We follow the current pandemic law regarding the number of people/m2 in our premises.
Sustainable materials
In the courses, we work with two different stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired product is very durable and that the glazes are lead-free. At the Pottery Workshop, we are very mindful of the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy. We strive to mix lead-free glazes and use natural colorants as much as possible, such as blue clay, terracotta, etc.
Where
In the fine course facilities of the Pottery Workshop at Holländargatan 33, Stockholm.
