Welcome to a ceramics course at the pottery studio, where you will learn everything about throwing.

The course fee includes:

  • Course compendium
  • The Pottery Workshop's lovely fabric bag
  • 3kg stoneware clay (then 70kr/kg) + slips/glazes/decorative materials + firing
  • Coffee/tea and snack supplies during the break
  • Option to leave your shoes

Prerequisites

The course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with previous experience. The teaching takes place in the form of individual guidance, and you have good opportunities to develop if you take multiple courses or sessions. A certificate of completion will be provided if desired.

Course structure and content

You will learn throwing, trimming, decorating techniques, and glazing. You will also see how to throw cups, bowls, jars, and candlesticks - tall, short, large, and small. We will also learn about kneading, recycling, and other aspects of the ceramic process. Depending on your current skill level, we will help you further develop.

The teaching mainly consists of practical work under the guidance of the course leader. Everyone has their own potter's wheel throughout the course.

Sustainable materials

In the courses, we work with two different stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired product is very durable and that the glazes are less toxic. At the Pottery Workshop, we are very mindful of the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy.

Where

In the fine course facilities of the Pottery Workshop at Holländargatan 33, Stockholm.
