Prerequisites
No prerequisites are required, but it is good if you have tried throwing at least once before. The course is also suitable for experienced throwers who want to focus more on their personal expression.
Course structure and content
During the special course in throwing and decoration techniques, participants will try a variety of ways to make their ceramic objects expressive and personal. We will experiment with carving, adding, marbling, sculpting, painting, and applying with a spray ball, among other techniques, to create patterns, images, and colors that make each object completely unique.
Lisa Hartwig Eriksson works with various decoration techniques in her artistry to create interesting surfaces and effects. Over two inspiring days, she will cover both throwing and a range of tips on different decoration techniques that can be used both during and after the throwing process.
Everyone has their own throwing wheel with adequate spacing and plexiglass between participants' places. The group consists of a maximum of 13 participants.
Screen-free: At Drejverkstaden, we want all of you to experience a sense of calm when you come in from a hectic Stockholm. Therefore, no computers or other screens are allowed to be used inside the premises. Mobile phones must always be set to silent mode when in the premises.
Sustainable materials
At Drejverkstaden, we are very mindful of the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy. In the courses, we only work with stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired product is very durable and that the glazes are more environmentally friendly. We strive to mix the glazes as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. We pre-rinse all our glazing tools and thereby recycle all glaze residue particles, which in turn become a new glaze. The electricity we use comes solely from renewable energy.
Therefore, we primarily source from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy.
