Teacher: Lisa Ericson |
Welcome to a week of intensive ceramics course at the Pottery Workshop with the fantastic teacher Lisa "Le ceramics" Ericson.
The course fee includes:
- Course compendium
- The pottery workshop's nice fabric bag or shopping bag
- 3kg stoneware clay (then 70kr/kg) + slips/glazes/decorative materials + firing
- Coffee/tea and snack supplies during the break
- Opportunity to leave your shoes for the entire week
Prerequisites
The course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with previous experience. The teaching takes place in the form of individual guidance, and you have good opportunities to develop if you take multiple courses or sessions. A certificate of completion will be provided if desired.
Course structure and content
You will learn throwing, trimming, decoration techniques, and glazing. You will also see how to throw cups, bowls, jars, and candlesticks - tall, short, large, and small. We will also learn about kneading, recycling, and other aspects of the ceramic process. Depending on your skill level, we will help you further develop. One of teacher Lisa's strongest skills is decoration, and during the week she will help you perhaps find and further develop your personal style and expression in ceramics.
The teaching mainly consists of practical work under the guidance of the course leader. Everyone has their own potter's wheel throughout the course.
After the intensive week, the works must dry properly and then be fired for the first time before glazing. Therefore, we will meet again after the summer on September 1 to glaze all the pieces.
Sustainable materials
In the courses, we work with two different stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired product is very durable and that the glazes are less toxic. At the Pottery Workshop, we are very mindful of the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy.
Where
In the fine course facilities of the Pottery Workshop at Holländargatan 33, Stockholm.
