Full refund applies within 14 days (according to the right of withdrawal law) from the payment date. In case of later cancellation, a cancellation fee of 500 SEK will be deducted. However, you can change your course free of charge to another session with the same price, subject to availability. The earlier you reschedule, the greater the chance you will get the spot you wish to change to. In case of a canceled course on our part (see General Terms or Covid 19), the full course fee will be refunded. |
Welcome to an inspiring and joyful weekend course in pottery.
Day 1 - Introduction and demonstration of throwing. Then we will throw all day. Large, small, low, and high. Everything depending on your previous experiences. Lunch break around 12-1 PM and we offer coffee/tea and snacks.
Day 2 - We will trim our pieces and add handles, decorate, sign, etc. Lunch break around 12-1 PM and we offer coffee/tea and snacks.
After the weekend, the pieces must be bisque fired before glazing, and we will meet again 3 weeks later to glaze them together. After that, it will take another 2-3 weeks (they are now being glaze fired) before you can come and pick up your finished works.
The course fee includes:
- Course compendium
- 1.5 kg stoneware clay + slips/glazes/decorative materials + firing
- Coffee/tea and snack items after lunch
- Opportunity to leave your work clothes and shoes during the weekend
Prerequisites
The course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with previous experience. The teaching is conducted in the form of individual guidance, and you have good opportunities to develop if you take multiple courses or sessions.
Course structure and content
You will learn the basics of throwing, trimming, decorating techniques, and glazing. You will also see how to throw cups, bowls, jars, plates, and candlesticks - high, low, large, and small. Everything depending on how much you know, we will help you further develop.
The teaching consists mainly of practical work under the guidance of the course leader. Everyone has their own potter's wheel throughout the course.
Sustainable materials
In the courses, we work with two different stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired pieces are very durable and that the glazes are lead-free. At Drejverkstaden, we are very mindful of the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy. We strive to mix lead-free glazes and use natural colorants, such as blue clay, terracotta, etc.
