Teacher: Ann-Louise Roman Time: Wednesdays 6-9 PM Start date: Week 2 - January 8, 2025 Number of hours and sessions: 3h x 7 times Booking and registration: When you pay for the course, you will automatically be registered and booked in your name for the course you purchase. There is a refund period of 14 days (according to the right of withdrawal law) from the date of payment. After these 2 weeks, a cancellation fee of 500 SEK/spot will be charged if you cancel. However, you can change your course free of charge to another session if there is availability. The earlier you reschedule, the greater the chance you will get the spot you wish to change to. Rescheduling must be done at least 14 days before the course starts; otherwise, 50% of the course fee will be charged. In the event of a canceled course on our part (see General Terms), the full course fee will be refunded. |
Welcome to the pottery course at Drejverkstaden, where you will learn everything about throwing.
The course fee includes:
- Course compendium
- Drejverkstaden's nice shopping bag
- 3kg stoneware clay (after that 70 SEK/kg) + slips/glazes/decorative materials + firing
- Coffee/tea and snacks during the break every time
- Opportunity to leave your work shoes
Prerequisites
You must have completed at least longer (7 times) courses at Drejverkstaden or have similar experience
Course structure and content
In this course, we will delve into the different aspects of throwing. We will learn to throw large pieces, throwing on the wheel, series production, how to trim the clay as well as various decoration techniques and finishing. Depending on the group and the participants' wishes, the course will be adapted accordingly.
Sessions 1-5: Various techniques and methods
Session 6: Porcelain clay, recycling, blindfolding, practice throwing, etc.
Session 7: Glazing
The teaching consists mainly of practical work under the guidance of the course leader. Everyone has their own potter's wheel throughout the course. Max 14 participants.
After glazing, all pieces will be fired, and it takes about 4-5 weeks before they are ready for pickup. We will get back to you via email about when they are ready and the pickup times.
Make up for missed sessions
Nothing we guarantee can be done, but if you notify us of your absence in good time, there is a possibility that we can try to arrange for you to make up for a spot from someone else. (Especially if you have unfortunately missed several times)
Screen-free
At Drejverkstaden, we want you all to experience a sense of calm when you come in from a hectic Stockholm. Therefore, no computers or other screens are allowed to be used inside the premises. Mobile phones must always be set to silent mode when in the premises.
Sustainable materials
At Drejverkstaden, we are very mindful of the environment and work in everything we do according to a sustainability plan. The clays we purchase come from Witgerts, which has a strong environmental policy. In the courses, we only work with stoneware clays. The advantage of stoneware is that the fired pieces are very durable and that the glazes are more environmentally friendly. We strive to mix the glazes as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. We pre-rinse all our glazing tools and thus recycle all glaze residue particles, which in turn become a new glaze. The electricity we use comes solely from renewable energy.
